“He is the Collector… .no, I think he is the district Minister,” said eight-year-old Stephen to his 10-year-old friend Jayakumar.
However, Jayakumar was not convinced. He took a good look at the guest. “Stephen, he is the Minister of this…” said Jayakumar pointing to the traditional sadya served in front of him.
Special treat
Children like Stephen and Jayakumar at the Sree Chitra Poor Home in the city received a special treat from Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Anoop Jacob, who organised a charity lunch in connection with the first death anniversary of his father and political leader late T.M Jacob, here at the poor home on Friday.
Accompanied by his mother Annie Jacob, sister Ambili Jacob, the family visited the children at the poor home at around 12.30 p.m.
After a short interaction with them, a sumptuous meal was served to all.

The Minister and his family partook of the meal.
Sandhya, a Class 9. student, was in a hurry, as she along with others had to prepare for the afternoon session at their school.
“I am seeing this Minister for the first time but we always have important leaders visiting us all the time,” said Sandhya.

Talking to The Hindu , Sri Chitra Poor Home superintendent Aleyamma Varghese said the children were privileged to get good food and supporting environment as many had been sponsoring and financially supporting the children.
