Reminding the government of its commitment to a green Kerala, poet and environmental activist Sugathakumari said Kerala could not afford any more deforestation.
Inaugurating an Assembly march organised by the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad here on Tuesday, she said the State could hope to achieve water security only if it managed to protect hills and wetlands.
The poet urged the government to review its decision to reduce the safe distance limit from quarries to 50 metres.
KSSP president T. Gangadharan and general secretary T.K. Meerabhai were among those who addressed the march.
