Leaders of various political parties condole death of freedom fighter

Leaders of various political parties and organisations expressed their condolences at the passing away of freedom fighter K.E. Mammen.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Mammen was a Gandhian who held fast to the ideals of the national movement till the very end. Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said Mr. Mammen was a fearless Gandhian.

Governor P. Sathasivam, in his condolence message, said we had lost a freedom fighter who inspired younger generations through timely and spirited interventions.

Veteran CPI(M) leader V.S. Achuthanandan said that Mammen had stayed true to the Gandhian values till the very end and led many valiant battles.

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Mammen was a rare personality who waged lone fights for truth and justice.

CPI(M) State unit secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said he had lived by the values of the freedom movement and led various struggles over seven decades in free India. Ministers A.K. Balan, Mathew T. Thomas, E. Chandrasekharan, Kadannappally Ramachandran, and Thomas Chandy also expressed their condolences at his passing.

‘An emotional connect’

CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran said the Gandhian had maintained an emotional connect with the CPI.

The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association, in its condolence message, said he had lent his support to the protests for the rights of government doctors.
