30 hurt in bus collision

As many as 30 persons were injured in a collision between two KSRTC buses near Nedumangad on Monday.

The accident occurred at Kollamkavu at 1 p.m. when the driver of the bus headed for Puthenpalam from Nedumangad lost control of the vehicle and collided with another bus.

While most of the injured were taken to a hospital at Nedumangad, six of them were rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.

They were identified as Jayalakshmi, 26, and Thulasi, 46, of Vattiyurkavu; Chinnamma, 61, and Valsala, 56, of Vithura; and Babu, 65, and Udayan, 50 of Valiyamala. They are under treatment at the critical care unit of the hospital, official sources said.
