21 nominations filed in capital on Day 2

Twenty-one candidates filed their nominations in the district for the upcoming Assembly elections on the second day of nomination filing on Monday. Three nominations were filed in Vamanapuram, two nominations each were filed in the Vattiyurkavu, Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Nemom, Aruvikkara, Kovalam, and Nedumangad constituencies, while one nomination each was filed in the Varkala, Attingal, Chirayinkeezh, and Parassala constituencies.

In the Vamanapuram constituency, D.K. Muraleedharan Nair of the CPI(M), R. Rameshan Nair (CPI(M) dummy candidate) and Independent candidate P. Sureshkumar filed nominations. In Thiruvananthapuram, LDF’s Antony Raju and Independent candidate S. Suseelan filed nominations.

In Vattiyurkavu, CPI (M) candidate T.N. Seema and Independent candidate Sahadevan filed nominations. In Kattakkada, CPI(M) candidate I.B. Satheesh and BJP candidate P.K. Krishnadas filed nominations. In Nemom, CPI(M) candidate V. Sivankutty and UDF candidate V. Surendran Pillai filed nominations. In Aruvikkara, A. Abdul Rasheed of the CPI(M) and Congress’s K.S. Sabarinathan filed nominations. In Kovalam, Jameela Prakasam of the LDF and T. Sarasamma of the Indian Gandhian Party filed nominations.

In Nedumangad, C. Divakaran of the CPI and Palode Ravi of the Congress filed nominations.

V. Joy of the CPI (M) in Varkala, Chandrababu of the RSP in Attingal, V. Sasi of the CPI in Chirayinkeezh and C.K. Hareendrakumar of the CPI(M) were the others to file nominations in the district on Monday. On the first day of filing nominations on Friday, seven nominations were received.

As per the personal asset details declared by the candidates during the filing of nominations, Nedumangad CPI candidate C. Divakaran has Rs.17,038 in his bank account and Rs.3000 in hand, while his wife has Rs. 2731 in her account and Rs.25,000 in hand.

He possesses gold worth Rs.20,000 and his wife Rs.4 lakhs worth of gold.

Nedumangad Congress candidate Palode Ravi has gross assets of Rs.47.5 lakh. His wife has Rs.20.5 lakh. Their immovable assets are worth Rs.35 lakh and Rs.30 lakh respectively.

CPI’s Chirayinkeezh candidate V. Sasi has gross assets of Rs.3,29,608. His wife has gross assets of Rs.1,796. Their immovable assets are worth Rs.22.5 lakh and Rs.1.25 lakh respectively.
