B.S. Yeddyurappa, president of Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said here on Thursday that he along with other leaders of the party will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on July 16 and press for a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into over 24 murders in the State after Siddaramaiah-led government came to power.
Addressing presspersons he said that it included two communal-related murders that took place in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada in June and July this year.
He alleged that K.C. Venugopal, the Congress in-charge of Karnataka, was prompting Kerala-like communal murders in Karnataka.
Earlier, addressing a protest meeting organised by BJP Mahila Morcha seeking arrest of those who murdered RSS activist Sharath Madiwala on B.C. Road on July 4, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the State would be “under fire” if police arrested RSS leader Kalladkka Prabhakara Bhat in connection with the recent communal incidents in Bantwal taluk. Later, to a question at the press conference he said that “under fire” he meant that there would be State-wide protests if Mr. Bhat was arrested.
Mr. Yeddyurappa met Taniyappa Madiwala, father of Sharath Madiwala, at his house in Sajipa in Bantwal taluk and consoled the family members.
