Yakshagana Kalaranga awards for 12 artistes

Yakshagana Kalaranga announced its annual awards here on Wednesday.

Addressing presspersons here, president of Kalaranga Talluru Shivarama Shetty and secretary Murali Kadekar said 12 artistes had been chosen for individual Yakshagana awards.

The B.B. Shetty Award would be given to Yakshagana artiste Puttur Sridhar Bhandary; Nittur Sundar Shetty – Mahesh D. Shetty Award to Babu Kudthadka; B.V. Acharya Award to Kodi Krishna Ganiga; B. Jagjeevandas Shetty Award to Ananda Shetty; Bhagavatha Naranappa Uppoor Award to Krishna Yaji Idgunji; Marvi Ramakrishna – Vadiraja Hebbar Award to Avarse Sheena Madivala; Kota Vaikunta Award to Pundarikaksha Upadhyaya; Kadiyali Subraya Upadhyaya Award to Halladache Venkataramayya; Airody Rama Ganiga Award to Jamadagni Sheena Nayak; Padaru Narasimha Shastri Award to Tenkabailu Thirumaleshwara Shastri; H.R. Kedlaya Award to Bajpe Deranna; and U. Vishwanath Shenoy Award to Janardhan Jogi, they said.

Each award included Rs. 10,000 and a citation. Vishwesha Tirtha Award would be given to Yakshagana Kalakshetra of Udupi for its contribution to promoting Yakshagana.

This award would carry Rs. 20,000 and a citation. Yaksha Chetana Award would be given to treasurer of Yakshagana Kalaranga S. Gopalakrishna.

All these awards would be presented at a function to be held at Rajangana here on November 13.
