Now you can help Mandd Sobhann, a Mangalore-based organisation for promotion of Konkani language and culture, to decide who should be conferred with the second Global Konkani Music Lifetime Achievement Award.
The first such award was given to well-known singer and lyricist late Wilfy Rebimbus, a household name among Konkani speakers.
Eric Ozario, “Gurkar” (Chief), Mandd Sobhann, told presspersons here on Wednesday that the person recommended for the Lifetime Achievement Award, set up by the organisation, should be a Konkani speaker and could be from any region or religion. People may send their recommendations by September 30, he said.
The lifetime achievement award is given to a living person who has contributed qualitatively to developing and popularising Konkani music. It consists of a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh, a trophy and followed by a felicitation.
Mr. Ozario also invited applications for awards for year 2012 in various categories including best female singer, best male singer, best lyricist, best music composer, best music arranger and best music album.
Any Konkani vocal music album released in the year 2012 is eligible from anywhere in the world in any dialect of Konkani by anyone belonging to to any religious and communal denomination. It includes devotional songs.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 8 this year at Kalaangann in Mangalore, said Mr. Ozario.
