Vacant seats in 22 hostels and two residential schools, run by Social Welfare and Backward Classes and Minorities Departments in Mangalore Taluk, were filled after a meeting held at the Taluk Panchayat premises here on Friday.
The meeting for selection of students was chaired by Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports K. Abhayachandra Jain. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader attended the meeting for a brief period.
Seats were available in the 12 pre-metric and post-metric hostels and two residential schools run by the Social Welfare Department.
There were vacant seats available in 10 pre-metric hostels run by the Backward Classes and Minorities Department.
Taluk Extension Officer, Backward Classes and Minorities Department, H.K. Ramu said all the applications seeking admission were accepted as they were less in number compared to seats on offer.
