Two workers were killed following an explosion at a garnel cracker-making unit in Nooji in Vitla Mudnoor village on Monday evening.
The Vitla Police gave the names of the victims as Sundar Poojary (39) and Hashim (25).
The police said that Sundar Poojary and Hashim were working in the garnel preparing unit of Abdul Gafoor. The police said that Gafoor has licence to prepare garnel, a high-intensity cracker used during car festivals in the region.
The police said that an accidental spark led to the explosion at the unit and the two died on the spot. Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) P. Harishekaran and Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase rushed to the spot.
