Two coaches added to Bengaluru-Karwar night Express

Even as the demand for one more night train service between Bengaluru and Mangaluru is increasing following closure of the Shiradi Ghat, the Railways has added one coach each to the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Central-Karwar/ Kannur night Express.

A release from Konkan Railway here said that a second class sleeper coach (SL) has been added to Train No. 16523 till April 8 and for Train No. 16524 from January till April 9 on temporary basis. Similarly, one SL coach has been added to 16517/518 Bengaluru-Mangaluru Central-Kannur Express for the same duration, said sources in South Western Railway.

The earlier composition of 16523/524 was 14 coaches-two, luggage-cum-brake vans, eight second class sleeper coaches and one each 2-Tier AC and 3-Tier AC coaches and that of 16517/518 was eight coaches-two luggage-cum-brake vans, one 2 Tier-cum 3 Tier AC coach, two general second class coaches and three second class sleeper coaches. The trains run as combined service till Mangaluru Central and get split towards Karwar and Kannur thereafter. The present total composition of the trains is 24 coaches.
