Thousands of people attended holy mass at the Rosario Cathedral at Pandeshwar on Sunday to commemorate the silver jubilee of the Pope's visit to Bajpe and the completion of 125 years of the Mangalore diocese.

The Bishop of Mangalore, Aloysius Paul D'Souza, unveiled the logo of the jubilee at the same event. Before the evening event began, hundreds of people participated in a procession that began from Milagres to reach Rosario Church at Pandeshwar.

On Sunday in Bajpe, the Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius D'Souza unveiled a bust of the Pope at an event to commemorate the silver jubilee of the visit of Pope John Paul II, who had visited Bajpe in 1986 on February 6.

Usually, the Eucharistic celebrations are held on the first Sunday of January every year, said Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, Director, Canara Communication Centre. However, this year, it had been celebrated on a different day for the commemoration of silver jubilee of the Pope's visit and also because this year marks the completion of 125 years of the Mangalore diocese. A logo to commemorate 125th year of the Mangalore diocese was unveiled by the Bishop on the occasion.
