Tourism operators should have exclusive packages for senior citizens as such packages are in demand now, according to Sutheeshna Babu S., Nodal Officer, National Institute of Water sports, Goa.

Delivering the key note address at the inauguration of a two-day conference on ‘advances and innovations in tourism and hospitality management’ at Mangalore University on Thursday, he said that as senior citizens have money and leisure time, exclusive packages for them is required.

Mr. Babu said that focus of tourism development should not be only on attracting foreign tourists and providing facilities to them but on domestic tourists as well.

K. Byrappa, Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University said that though Karnataka has many tourist places, roads leading to them were in bad condition. In addition, such places lacked good accommodation facility. Many beaches did not offer any safety measures to tourists. It shows that there was lack of professionalism in developing tourism.

The Department of Business Administration at the University had organised the seminar.
