Three shots were fired in the air on Sunday evening at Belthangady police station as a mark of respect for M.S. Mane, a member of the ANF team who was killed during “Naxal” combing operations, on Saturday.

The Karnataka State Police gave a funeral guard of honour and gun salute. The Director-General of Police Neelam Achuta Rao, Additional Director-General of Police Bipin Gopalkrishna, Inspector-General of Police (Internal Security) Bhaskar Rao and several police officials attended the guard of honour ceremony.

While the senior officials laid wreaths and garlands on the body, a large number of ANF personnel saluted the body before the guard of honour ceremony began.

Soon after, the officer leading the ceremony gave the command for three shots to be fired. Led by the Dakshina Kannada Police Band, all police personnel lowered their heads for a minute or two as a mark of respect for the slain colleague.
