Shri Ram Sene leader Praveen Valke's daughter Nidhi committed suicide in her house in the Dongerkeri area in the city on Saturday.

According to Mangalore North sub-inspector of police Ramakrishna, the standard IX student committed suicide after her mother denied her permission to go to her friend's house to play. He said Nidhi had been asking for an internet connection for several days and her father had promised her that he would get it in a few days.

However, on Saturday, after she returned from school, she told her mother that she would go to her friend's house as there was no internet connection in their house. When her mother told her to remain at home, she went to her room and committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan, Mr. Ramakrishna said.
