Grievance redressal: A complaint box has been placed at the prepaid autorickshaw counter at the Mangaluru Central Railway Station.

There is a board at the prepaid autorickshaw counter at Mangaluru Central Railway Station showing the fares to different parts of the city. A complaint box and a complaint register have been placed at the counter.

These are among the changes the city police have made at the prepaid counter at Central station following complaints of overcharging and harassment of passengers by autorickshaw drivers.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K. Tilakhchandra said police personnel would be at the counter to ensure smooth operation when trains arrive at the station. The autorickshaw driver running the counter will be wearing a batch showing his name; he will also have a reflective jacket on.

Mr. Tilakchandra said passengers opting for autorickshaws will be given a receipt showing the fare they have to pay on reaching their destination. If there is any deviation and the driver collects excess fare, a complaint can be placed in the box at the counter. Passengers can also report driver misconduct to the jurisdictional Mangaluru South police inspector by calling 94808 05337. This number will soon be reflected in the receipt issued to commuters, the ACP said.
