N.K. Patil, a High Court judge, said on Saturday that it was the right of children to get good food and quality education.
He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on “Eradication of malnutrition among children and getting out-of-school children back to schools” organised by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority and other organisations, here.
Mr. Patil said that it was after reading about a report on malnutrition that the High Court had suo motu initiated a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the issue.
K.L. Manjunath, another Karnataka High Court judge, said that the future of the children was not just the responsibility of parents but also of the society. The role of judiciary was not limited to dispensing justice. It too had social responsibility, he said.
K. Bhaktavatsala said that it was essential to give importance to angnawadi workers in the campaign to eradicate malnutrition.
Ashok Nijagannavar, member-secretary of Karnataka Legal Services Authority, Muddu Mohan, Deputy Commissioner, M.B. Boralingaiah, Superintendent of Police, M.
