In the wake of damages caused to properties and crops following downpour in Gadag district in the last fortnight, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain has said that officials had been directed to disburse the compensation in the next three days.

He made this announcement after inspecting the damage to houses in various localities in Nargund town and in the villages of Dandapur and Somapur on Wednesday.

Speaking to presspersons later, Mr. Jain said that in all over 100 houses had been damaged at various places in Nargund taluk and of them 20 had been severely damaged.

He said already a detailed report on the rain damage had been received and disbursement of the compensation would be carried out within next three days.

There was a report of one man being killed after being struck by lightning and compensation would be paid to his family.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that heavy rain and gusty winds had damaged around 70 electrical poles in the taluk and officials of HESCOM had been directed to take up repairs immediately. He said a comprehensive report on rain damage was being prepared and further action would be taken once it was ready.

Earlier accompanied by Director of Urban Development Project Cell Ramesh Desai, Nargund tahsildar Prakash Holayappagol and other officials the Deputy Commissioner visited the affected places.
