The Railways has approved the construction of a railway overbridge (RoB) or railway overpass at Jeppu-Mahakalipadpu level-crossing here. The council of the Mangalore City Corporation has given its nod for the proposal, accordingly.

Chief Whip in the council Ranganath C. Kini has clarified that the Railways had approved an RoB and not a railway underbridge (RuB) or railway underpass there.

Mr. Kini told The Hindu on Sunday that although the agenda tabled at the council meeting on Friday had sought the council's approval for RuB, the council made necessary changes to approve the RoB as the Railways had approved only the latter.

G.V. Rajashekar, Executive Engineer at the corporation, confirmed that the approval had been given for RoB and not RuB.

The road passing through this level-crossing connects the National Highway 17.The council on Friday decided to forward its approval for the project to the Department of Urban Development for administrative clearance.
