Poojary slams Yeddyurappa over Rs. 1 crore SUV

April 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - Mangaluru:

After taking to task Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for “receiving” a costly wrist watch as a gift, Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary on Saturday turned guns against State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)president B.S. Yeddyurappa for the Rs. 1 crore SUV he received from former minister Murugesh Nirani.

Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Poojary wondered the rationale behind Mr. Yeddyurappa, a former Chief Minister, receiving the costly four-wheeler.

“Before taking charge as the president of state BJP, Mr. Yeddyurappa had claimed that he had changed. However, he appears to be making the same mistakes,” Mr. Poojary said.

Mr. Yeddyurappa owes an explanation to the people as to why he had taken the costly car from Mr. Nirani, Mr. Poojary added. His reported explanation that he had to use the car for security reasons are irresponsible, Mr. Poojary said and added there is no threat to the life of Mr. Yeddyurappa.
