Women working at a call centre in Kuloor, where some persons stormed in on Friday night in a case of moral policing, on Monday sought that the police invoke non-bailable provision against persons involved in the attack.
A group of people on Friday night stormed into Orbis Business Management and questioned women working night shifts. They abused women employees. An employee, who tried to intervene between the women and the group, was assaulted. On a complaint, Kavoor police arrested four persons. They are on the look out for the fifth person, who was a part of the group.
On Monday the employees first came to the Women’s police station in Pandeshwar where they were directed to approach the Police Commissioner. The employees then met Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K.V. Jagadish.
An employee, who met Mr. Jagadish, said they wanted the police to invoke Section 354 of Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force to women with an intent to outrage modesty). “He has assured of action. We hope strong action is taken against the perpetrators,” the employee said.
Mr. Jagadish said efforts were being made to arrest Shiva, who was a part of the group that stormed the call centre. Policemen will provide security to the call centre for the next few days, he added.
