One killed, 15 injured in tanker-bus collision near Byndoor

One person was killed and about 15 people were injured in a collision between a tanker and a bus on National Highway 66 at Nagur village coming under Byndoor police station limits in Udupi district on Monday.

The tanker was moving from Mangaluru to Hubballi, while the private bus was moving in the opposite direction from Kundapur to Byndoor.

According to the police, owing to the collision between the two vehicles, the driver of the tanker, was severely injured. He later died at a private hospital in Kundapur.

About 15 passengers in the bus suffered injuries and they had been moved to a private hospital in Kundapur for treatment.

A motorcycle, which was parked by the side of the highway, too was damaged. As a result of the collision, traffic got blocked and was later cleared by the police.

A case had been registered at Byndoor police station and investigations were on, the police said.
