Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Harish Kumar K. said on Thursday that the National Highways Authority of India had promised to build a flyover at Nanthoor Junction.

He said at the meeting of the council that an official of NHAI at a meeting promised that the authority, which had dropped the proposal of building a flyover, would take it up again.

Mr. Kumar said that the stretch of National Highway 48 between Mahaveera Circle and Padil was still under the Mangalore Division of National Highways . The corporation would take its possession only after the government issued a gazette notification de-notifying the stretch. He said that an executive engineer of the corporation had taken the stretch into possession “on his own”. “It is not our property,” he said.
