MRPL blast: case registered

The police in Surathkal have arrested three people in connection with the blast that killed one person in Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited on Saturday.

Nagesh of Kulai was killed because of the impact of the blast, which left Srinivas and four others injured. The Surathkal police registered a case on the complaint of Srinivas.

The police have registered a case against Praveen Kumar, supervisor at MRPL, Mahesh Kumar, a maintenance technician and one of the injured, and Prakash Karkera of Entech Constructions and Kusumakar Shetty of Shri Ganesh Constructions. All except Mahesh Kumar, who is still recuperating in a private hospital, have been arrested. The police said they had been released on bail subsequently.
