‘Modi unfit to be PM’

September 15, 2013 11:22 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:12 pm IST - MANGALORE:

Senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was not a fit candidate for the post of the country’s Prime Minister.

Mr. Poojary told reporters that Mr. Modi believed in divisive politics and was not secular. He does not have stature of leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lalbahadhur Shastri and A.B. Vajpayee, who could appeal to all sections of the society. “You (Modi) are not acceptable for the post,” he said.

By appointing Mr. Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate the BJP will bite the dust, he said. “You saw the fate of the party after he visited the state (during Assembly elections). I challenge him to come here again,” he said.

There will be no impact of Modi campaign in Karnataka in the Loksabha elections, Mr. Poojary said.

Heggade at Dasara

Mr. Poojary said the 101st Dasara celebrations at the Kudroli temple here will be inaugurated by the Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharmastala Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade on October 10.
