Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader rushed late on Sunday night to a private hospital to arrange treatment for an Indian Army soldier who was bitten by a snake.

The younger brother of Santosh Kumar, a native of Kodakallu near Mudipu, who had recently taken part in a surgical strike exercise, called Mr. Khader around 1.15 a.m. on Sunday to inform him about the snakebite. He told the Minister about his difficulty in getting 10 vials of anti-snake venom sought by the private hospital for treatment.

Mr. Khader rushed to the hospital at 1.30 a.m. and arranged to get the venom from Government Wenlock Hospital. He visited the private hospital on Monday to see how Mr. Kumar was responding to the treatment, a release from the Department of Information said.
