Progressive farmer H.D. Ranganath Shastri said on Wednesday that farmers should make full use of the health improvement schemes extended in rural areas.
He was inaugurating a free eye check-up organised at Hosudi near here, under the joint auspices of Shankar Eye Hospital, Farmers' Welfare Centre and the Gayatri Brahmins' Sangha.
Mr. Shastri pointed out that there had been many innovations in healthcare which could reach poor beneficiaries only through free health check-up camps. He asked the locals to extend full cooperation to organisers of such camps.
President of the Farmers' Welfare Centre Omprakash Telkar presided over the function.
Member of the zilla panchayat Bhagyamma Lakshanappa, vice-president of the Farmers' Welfare Centre Maheshwarappa, president of the Gayatri Brahmins' Sangha, Madhumati Manjunath, and eye surgeon at Shankar Eye Hospital Ashwini were present.
Villagers in and around Hosudi underwent the free check-up.
