Konkan Railway to provide escalators at stations

Now, railway stations on the Konkan route will provide escalators like Mumbai suburban stations .

Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu has issued directions in this regard to KRCL Chief Managing Director Bhanu Prakash Tayal while discussing the passenger amenities on stations, according to a press release.

The Minister said that passenger amenities would have to be upgraded at all the stations on the Konkan route as the number of passengers had gone up , it said.

He pointed out that cover sheds were important in the Konkan region in view of heavy rainfall and the long monsoon. The Minister also emphasised the need to provide toilet facilities at all stations.
