Commending the Endosulfan Virodhi Horata Samiti for pointing out that officials had been misleading the High Court, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said it was only through people’s activism that dereliction in the official machinery would be noticed. “This will serve as a warning to them,” he said.
Admitting that no compensation had been given to victims, he said two committees have been formed in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts to oversee the first instalment of disbursement of payout. “Rs. 50 crore has been sanctioned by the finance department, and based on these committee reports, we’ll distribute in the district,” he said.
