KDA bats for Tulu in Eighth Schedule

Chairman of Kannada Development Authority ‘Mukhyamantri’ Chandru said here on Sunday that the authority will urge the Union government to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a dance programme at Bunts Hostel here he said Tulu was the sister language of Kannada. It should get Constitutional recognition.

Mr. Chandru said Konkani, Kodava, Beary, and Tulu languages should be promoted as the country had many languages and cultures. Earlier, he attended a function at Edneer math in Kasaragod district of Kerala to present awards to meritorious Kannada medium school students in Kasaragod .

As many as 64 students with excellent academic track record were given away cash prizes and other compliments.
