The Udupi district administration will be promoting heli-tourism as part of the Udupi Parba or Udupi Festival.

The heli-tourism facility will be made available by the New Delhi-based chartered service provider, Chipsan Aviation.

The helicopter tourism facility will be available at the NCC Ground in Udupi from December 22 to 27, while it would be available at UVA Meridian Resorts at Koteshwar near Kundapur from December 28 to 31.

Those boarding the helicopter in Udupi will be able to enjoy breath-taking sights of Malpe beach and Manipal. While those taking the helicopter ride from Koteshwar, will be able to see eye-soothing visuals of the backwaters, the Gangolli fisheries harbour and Kodi beach.

The helicopter ride will be available under two categories — Joy Ride for eight minutes and Adventure Ride for 12 minutes. The cost of Joy Ride is ₹ 2,500 per person, while the ticket for Adventure Ride is ₹ 3,000 per person. “We received good response during the helicopter rides we had arranged here in February and April last year. Besides, we expect a lot of tourists to visit Udupi district during the Christmas vacation. It will be an added attraction to people visiting the Udupi Parba,” said Sudesh Shetty, in-charge of development of Malpe beach and St. Mary’s Island.

Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, will inaugurate the heli-tourism facility at the NCC Grounds here at 11.30 a.m. on Friday.
