Going slow on Koti Chennaya

Koti and Chennaya, the legendary heroes who are dear to the hearts of the people in the district and surrounding areas, were expected get the much-needed attention when the government announced that a project on “conservation and preservation of the footprints depicting their birth and life” two years ago.

Official sources admit that the State government had released only Rs. 2 crore of the Rs. 5 crore announced.

The detailed project report was yet to be finalised, though a foundation stone for the project was laid a month ago on January 27 this year at Padumale near Puttur.

The plan is to build a community hall, a museum-cum-information centre, toilet bath room facilities, compound wall and a walking path there.
