Dakshina Kannada district has received excess rainfall in June, Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, has said. He informed a meeting that against the normal average of 942 mm, the district received 944 mm rainfall in June. Emergency services personnel were ready in taluk headquarters to face any calamity, he said. As many as 897 houses were damaged in rain this year and compensation had been paid.
Meanwhile, coastal Karnataka received copious rain between Sunday night and Monday evening. Between 8 a.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. on Monday, the district received an average rainfall of 8.7 cm against 1.7 cm received during the same period last year. The total rainfall from January to July 4 this year too was more, (124.4 cm) as against 109.8 cm received during the same period last year.
