A sum of Rs. 1 crore has been given to endosulfan victims in two tranches of Rs. 50 lakh, said Health Minister U.T. Khader here on Friday.
He said one mobile ambulance unit has been provided to the day care centre for them. The issue of manpower to provide medical support to them requires more discussion, he said.
After inaugurating “World Physiotherapy Day” at M.V. Shetty College of Physiotherapy in the city on Sunday, the Minister had said the government would not give compensation to victims based on the Kerala model.
He said if lump sum money is given to relations, it would not reach the victim as s/he would not be able to protest, he said. The Karnataka compensation would be better than Kerala’s but it would not be given in the same way, he said.
