‘Dy.SP had narrated ordeal’

July 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:46 am IST - MANGALURU:

Mangaluru Bar Association President S.P. Chengappa claimed here on Thursday that Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy had narrated him his ordeal and harassment at the workplace, six days before committing suicide.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Chengappa said that Ganapathy had come to the city court premises to give evidence.

“He spoke to me for nearly 30 minutes in the court premises and narrated all matters that he later revealed to a news channel (in Madikeri). Ganapathy spoke of the harassment by IPS officers A.M. Prasad and Pranob Mohanty and Bangaluru Development Minister K.J. George. He was really demoralised,” Mr. Chengappa said.

Mr. Chengappa said that Ganapathy’s statement before a private news channel in Madikeri should be considered as dying declaration and an FIR should be registered against Mr. George and two police officers.

Mr. Chengappa added that 1,000-odd advocates will attend courts on Friday by wearing black bands.
