Department gets distributor to clear abandoned drugs from roadside

The Drugs Control Department on Monday got a pharma distributor to remove expired drugs disposed of unscientifically in a public place and issued notice to him.

A release here said that a general public happened to see considerable amount of medicines and tablets thrown on the side of Bondel-Pachchanadi Road on Monday. Immediately, the individual informed the department.

Assistant Drugs Controller Shankar Nayak and drugs inspector Dhananjay immediately visited the spot and inspected the drugs. The drugs were barred by time.

On examination of the batch number, they found that they belonged to a distributor by name S.P. Pharma, Mangaluru.

The officials summoned representatives of the distributor and got the drugs cleared by them.

The department would also issue notice to the distributor asking to show cause why action should not be initiated against him.
