Deficient rainfall in Dakshina Kannada

Dakshina Kannada has received an average 4.41 per cent less rainfall this year when compared to the corresponding period in 2015.

The district recorded an average 2,364.5 mm rainfall from January 1 to August 16, 2016 when compared to an average of 2,473.6 mm rainfall recorded during the corresponding period in 2015.

In the fortnight of August alone, the district recorded an average 31.6 per cent less rainfall. It recorded an average 323 mm rainfall from August 1 to August 16, 2016 when compared to an average 472.4 mm rainfall recorded during the corresponding period of last year.

The district recorded an average 26.4 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ended at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
