August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:10 am IST - MANGALURU:

Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V. Sadananda Gowda said here on Monday that the central committee of the BJP a few months ago decided that B.S. Yeddyurappa will be the next chief ministerial candidate of the party in the elections to Assembly.

Amit Shah, national president of the party, reiterated the same in Mangaluru on Sunday. In an informal chat with media, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that the State party leaders have agreed to make Mr. Yeddyurappa the next Chief Minister, in the event of a BJP win. Mr. Yeddyurappa is an unquestionable leader of the party. All leaders would strive together to bring the party back to power in the State, he added.

He said the core committee of the party in its meeting in Delhi on Tuesday would discuss the differences of opinion in the party. All would be sorted out within the framework of the party. The differences of opinion among leaders earlier have taught a lesson to the party, he said.
