Cultural events add colour

Cultural events added colour to the Republic Day function at the Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Ranga Mandira here on Friday.

Students of St. Francis Xavier’s School, Udyavara, set the right tone with their performance of the skit ‘I love my India - Jai Ho.’

This was followed by ‘Vande Mataram’ by students of Mukund Kripa English Medium School, ‘Eevare Yuvajanaru’ by students of St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School.

The performance of ‘Nanna Deshada Bandavare’ a Kannada version of ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’ provided a fitting end to the cultural programme.

Youth organisations were given sports kit under the ‘Yuva Chaitanya’ scheme by the Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Pramod Madhwaraj.

Five government officers: M. Anthony Maria Immanuel, H. Nagabhushan Udupa, S. Harikrishna Shivathaya, Veena Vivekananda, Sudhakar Shetty and H. Devaraj Pana, were presented the ‘Sarvotham Seva Prashasti.’

As many as 13 farmers were presented the ‘Shreshta Krsihik Prashasti.’ Five sportspersons were felicitated on the occasion.
