Second PU examinations

In all, 13,589 students of II pre-university appeared for History examination in Dakshina Kannada on Monday. A total of 285 students were absent for the exam in the district.

In computer science,

26 students remained absent and 5,981

students appeared. Examinations for Biology, optional Kannada and Electronics will be conducted on

March 24.

Regularisation

The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will issue applications for regularising unauthorised layouts or buildings constructed before October 19, 2013. They will be regularised as per provisions mentioned under Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Act, 2014. The applications will be issued from March 23, 2015 to March 22, 2016 at the corporation’s head office

at Lalbagh and itt sub-offices at Kadri and Surathkal. Each application will cost Rs. 60. Details can be obtained from the corporation’s office, a press release

said.

Medical camp

The Kasturba Medical College and Hospital will conduct a free health check-up camp under the Vajpayee Arogyashree campaign

at the primary health centre, Mulky, on March 25 from 10 a.m.

to 1.30 p.m. Specialists will offer free consultation at the venue. Free tests

will be conducted and

free medicines will be dispensed as per the advice of doctors. Free treatment will be given to below poverty line cardholders as per the provisions mentioned under the Vajpayee Arogyashree guidelines at KMC Hospital for cardiac, urological and cancer ailments.

Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Moodbidri, will organise an inter-collegiate cultural, technical and management festival on March 25.

Social security

Single window application system will be started in Dakshina Kannada shortly for enabling HIV infected people to avail benefits of various social security schemes of the government, according to A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner. It is as per the direction of Karnataka AIDS Prevention Society, he told a meeting on Monday. An official said that 7,549 HIV infected cases have been found in the district since 2007.
