The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd. (Campco) will organise a three-day agriculture machinery fair at Puttur from November 2, according to its president Konkodi Padmanabha.
He told presspersons in Mangalore on Friday he said that more than one lakh farmers from 17 districts from Karnataka and Kerala were expected to attend the fair on the premises of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology.
He said that Israel-made irrigation and fertigation equipment and China-made farm machinery would be an added attraction at the ‘Krishi Yantra Mela II 2012’. The cooperative had organised the first Krishi Yantra Mela at Puttur in 2009.
The fair next month would feature machinery used in dairying. Machines made by companies and progressive farmers on their own would be on display. Farmers could book the machines of their choice at the fair.
In addition, students of nine engineering colleges would display their projects separately.
The president said that Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and Union Minister for Power and Corporate Affairs M. Veerappa Moily would attend the inaugural session. Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy is likely to attend the valedictory session on November 4.
