Temporary AC coach

Train No.16527 Yeswantpur - Kannur Express leaving Yeswantpur has been augmented with an additional 3-tier AC coach. It will be there up to August 31. Similarly, Train No.16528 Kannur - Yeswantpur Express leaving Kannur has also been augmented with an additional 3-tier AC coach up to September 1. It is a temporary arrangement, Palakkad Division of the Southern Railway stated in a press release.

College building

The new building of Milagris College will be inaugurated here on May 4. Hotel Management course will also be inaugurated on the day. Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Ministers U.T. Khader and B. Ramanath Rai, Mayor Harinath and Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University K. Byrappa

CITU dharna

Activists of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) began an indefinite dharna in front of the Amblamogaru gram panchayat from Monday seeking housing sites for the poor. Speaking on the occasion,

CITU leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said that though the panchayat has reserved three acre land for allotting it as sites so far it has not distributed them to the poor. He questioned why the panchayat was not taking any action to this effect.

Home guards

Home Guards and Civil Defence Department will recruit 200 home guards in Dakshina Kannada. Those aged between 20 and 45 and those who have passed Class 7 can apply. They will be paid a duty allowance of Rs. 325 a day. For details, call 2220562.

Discourse

Chinmaya Mission will organise a discourse on Bhagawad Gita at Kulala Sangha, Police Lane, near A.B. Shetty Circle here from May 5 to May 11. It will be from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sujay Chaitanya, acharya, Chinmaya Mission, will deliver the discourse.
