August 05, 2013 12:54 pm | Updated 12:54 pm IST - MANGALORE:

The Konkani book, titled “Konkani Challvoll Volume IV, a critical analysis on Konkani folk-drama in folklore category”, has united Konkani people across the world, said Gokuldas Prabhu, Member of the General Council, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi.

He said the book, which was released at an event in the city on Sunday, communicated to Konkani people writing the language across scripts. He said the author has broken the barrier of script in Konkani.

Paul Moras, the author, said that in the book he has written about the origin, difference and development of Konkani “khel” (play), “naatak” (drama), and “theatre” (pronounced as “thiyaatra”).

As he studied the subject, he began looking at the subject from a critical perspective.

Basthi Vaman Shenoy, president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, said the author is a consistent writer, irrespective of whether the funds for writing are available or not.
