Workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrating in Udupi on Thursday the swearing-in of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister.

Members of the Udupi district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the swearing-in of the president of State unit of the party B.S. Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister of the State by distributing sweets and bursting crackers in front of district BJP office here on Thursday.

K.S. Poojary, BJP leader, said that the swearing-in of Mr. Yeddyurappa would open a new chapter of development in the State. Many development works would be taken up by the BJP government. The new government would also be good at ensuring law and order throughout the State. The party had won all the five Assembly seats in Udupi district and the five MLAs would work with responsibility towards the people, he said.

The popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and issues of Hindutva and nationalism were responsible for the BJP winning across the State.

The people were also impressed by the governance provided by Mr. Modi in the last four years at the Centre. His implementation of Goods and Services Tax had ensured a uniform tax system across the country, he said.

Nay sayers proved wrong

Those who had raised objections to the steps taken by Mr. Modi had always been proved wrong. The State government would work in the same path as shown by Mr. Modi, Mr. Poojary said.

Dinakar Babu, president of Zilla Panchayat, Nalini Rao, president of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Upendra Nayak, Shreesha Nayak Pernankila, Raghavendra Kini, Rajendra P., Dinakar Shetty, Mahesh Thakur, Rajani Hebbar, Shilpa R. Bhat, Sandhya Ramesh, Suvardhan, BJP leaders, were present.
