The Parivartana Yatra of the BJP will enter Dakshina Kannada at Gundia on Wednesday. Later, the party will organise six public programmes as part of the yatra in the district on November 10 and 11, according to Sanjeeva Matandoor, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the party.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said that the yatra chariot would arrive at Gundia from Sakleshpur at 4.30 p.m.
The party workers would welcome it in a grand manner. Later, it would halt in Puttur on Thursday.
He said that public programmes would be organised on Friday at Sullia at 11 a.m., at Puttur at 3 p.m. and at Belthangady at 4 p.m.
Public programmes on Saturday would be organised at Bantwal at 11 a.m., at Moodbidri at 3 p.m. and at Nehru Maidan in the city at 5 p.m.
He said that some national-level leaders of the party are expected to attend the programme in the city on Saturday. The unit president said that the programme in the city would be organised for the Assembly constituencies of Mangaluru City South, Mangaluru City North and Mangaluru and 100 workers from each booth would attend it.
To a question, he said that some leaders from the Congress are set to join the BJP at the public programmes. Without disclosing their names, he said that it would be a surprise. They would join the BJP in their respective constituencies, he said.
Mr. Matandoor said that the party would highlight on the failure of the Congress government to control sand mafia, land mafia, ganja mafia and also in cracking the murders of BJP activists in the district.
He said that the yatra launched in Bengaluru on November 2 would tour for 73 days in all Assembly segments in the State to highlight the failure of the Congress-led State government.
