N.B. Aboobaker, former Chairman of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC), said on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had done more for the welfare of the minority communities in the last five years of its predecessors.
Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Aboobaker, who is also a permanent invitee to the BJP national unit of the minority morcha, said that governments used to allot a maximum amount of Rs. 35 crore per year for the welfare of the minority communities. But after the BJP came to power, it released Rs. 128.98 crore in 2008-09, Rs. 173.73 crore in 2009-10, Rs. 269.26 crore in 2010-11, Rs. 334.99 crore in 2011-12, and Rs. 407 crore in 2012-13 for the welfare of the minority communities.
Nearly 14 lakh beneficiaries had benefited from various schemes of the KMDC in the last five years.
A sum of Rs. 6.54 crore had been spent for the welfare of 3,913 beneficiaries under various schemes in Udupi district in the last five years, compared to Rs. 1.14 crore spent on 860 beneficiaries in the past 22 years before the BJP Government came to power.
The members of the minority communities should consider these achievements of the BJP hovernment and re-elect it, Mr. Aboobaker said.
