Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government has failed to solve the power problem in the State.
He was speaking at the culmination of the torchlight rally, taken out by the Udupi Youth Congress to protest against what they termed “total failure of Bharatiya Janata Party government on all fronts” here on Friday.
Misleading statements
Mr. Madhwaraj said that the BJP had promised 24-hour power supply in the State in its manifesto. But now, the Government was giving misleading statements on the power crisis, which was affecting both farmers and students appearing for various examinations.
The BJP government was cheating the people. It provided regular power in Bangalore till the completion of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections and began load-shedding immediately after the voting.
Even now, the Government was providing regular power supply to villages. But this would last only till May 8, when polling will be held for gram panchayats. People would know the true colours of the BJP after that, he said.
The Government had no funds for any welfare programme for the people. But, it was generous in providing funds to maths. The Government had completely mishandled the finances of the State. The programmes of the State Government were running on Central funds, Mr. Madhwaraj said.
The torchlight procession began from the Congress Bhavan here and culminated at the Clock Tower, near service bus-stand.
