The Nrityaniketana Kodavoor organisation will begin its “Nritya Vasanta” series, where members will perform Bharatanatyam in the houses of classical dance fans in and around Udupi.
In a press release issued here, Director of the organization Kodavoor Sudhir Rao said that the series was aimed at popularising classical dance, especially Bharatnatyam. As many as 12 dance performances would be held in 12 houses of classical dance lovers in places including Udupi, Saligrama, Manipal, and Katapady. The Bharatnatyam performances would be held on April 1, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, 20, and 27, and on May 17 and 18.
The inauguration of the “Nritya Vasanta” series would be held at Om Sagri Residential Complex at Purshotham Nagar behind MGM College Grounds here on March 31. The inaugural function would be followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by the members of the organisation.
S. Manjunath Kalkura, retired professor, would inaugurate the series. N.B. Vijay Ballal, Managing Trustee of the Ambalpady Temples, would preside over the inaugural function. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishath and Muralidhar Upadhyaya Hiriyadka, writer, would be among the guests.
