‘Pannabha Puraskar’, instituted by the Mangalore-based Rangabharathi organisation, would be given to Akku and Leela, two former employees of the Government Women Teachers’ Training Institute in Udupi, here on Wednesday.

A press release issued here on Wednesday said that Ms. Akku and Ms. Leela had put in about four decades of service as temporarily appointed cleaners at Government Women Teachers’ Training Institute in Udupi on a monthly salary of Rs. 15 before retiring in 2011. They finally got justice after a long struggle when the Supreme Court ordered the State government to pay them arrears for their service.
