‘Adityanath assures U.P. will not ban arecanut’

CAMPCO president also urges Uttar Pradesh CM to abolish APMC cess

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that his government will not ban arecanut, according to S.R. Satishchandra, president, Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (CAMPCO) Ltd.

Mr. Satishchandra stated in a release here on Tuesday that he met the Chief Minister and Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh in Delhi a week ago and discussed issues concerning arecanut growers. He urged the Chief Minister to abolish the APMC cess being imposed in Uttar Pradesh on sale of arecanut. It was a burden on individual arecanut traders too. The Chief Minister promised to review it, the release said. He promised that the Uttar Pradesh government would respond favourably to the issues of arecanut growers, the release said. H.S. Manjappa, president, Karnataka Rajya Adike Marata Sahakari Niyamitha, was also present with the CAMPCO president who met the Chief Minister on September 21, it said.
